A Challenging Equation? Highfields Students Have It Figured Out!
Highfields students have achieved fantastic results in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge, with 51 students from Year 13 A Level Mathematics and Year 12 A Level Further Mathematics taking on the notoriously challenging problem-solving competition.
The students achieved an impressive 8 Gold, 18 Silver and 19 Bronze certificates, recognising their mathematical ability, logical thinking and determination when tackling complex problems.
Congratulations to our 8 Gold award winners: Sukriti, Eve, Grace, Gabriel, Mary, Shriya, Yuvraj and Loagin.
Their success has also opened the door to further challenges. Seven of our Gold award winners have qualified for the Andrew Jobbings Senior Kangaroo, a follow-on round for some of the highest-performing students nationally. An especially outstanding achievement goes to Gabriel Hughes, who has earned an invitation to the British Mathematical Olympiad, a prestigious competition reserved for a small number of the country's top-performing young mathematicians.
The UKMT Senior Maths Challenge requires students to apply mathematical reasoning and creative problem-solving skills to questions that go well beyond the A Level specification. These results are a testament to the students' hard work, curiosity and enthusiasm for mathematics.
Well done to everyone who took part, and best of luck to those progressing to the next rounds!
