Year 7 Activity Day captures the interest and imagination of the year group.

As a continuation of the Year 6 into year 7 transition programme, the Year 7 Activity Day encourages students to build new friendships and develop new skills through shared outdoor experiences.

Based at Llandrinio, our outdoor activity centre, students take part in activities that promote cooperation, communication and organisation. They will either complete the Forest Adventure, which includes a scramble and climb to the summit of Rodney’s Pillar, where they will also learn about the area’s rich history, or visit Llanymynech Limeworks Nature Reserve to tackle an orienteering course designed by Go Orienteering.

After their morning activities, students return to the centre for a warm drink and lunch before taking part in team-building challenges such as “Build a Bridge” and structured “Get to Know Each Other” activities. These sessions encourage teamwork, problem-solving and collaboration.

The day is thoroughly enjoyed by all Year 7 students and gives them a clear sense of the exciting opportunities ahead, including their Lake Vyrnwy adventure next year and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award in Years 9 and 10.
