Pitch Perfect: Students Receive Glowing Football Tribute
We are always delighted to hear about the fantastic achievements of our students outside of school, and recently we were contacted by the manager of Wolverhampton District Girls Football to share some wonderful feedback about two of our talented students, Sarannah and Alice.
Sarannah Earns Player of the Tournament Honour
Sarannah has been an integral member of the Wolverhampton District Girls Football team since joining in late 2023. Her dedication, determination and development have made a huge impact on the squad, and she recently enjoyed a particularly memorable experience representing the district in France.
During the tournament, Sarannah delivered three outstanding performances in defence and midfield, showcasing her strong tackling, excellent vision and composure on the ball. Her influence on the team was recognised when she was named Player of the Tournament for Wolverhampton District.
The manager praised Sarannah's commitment and resilience, highlighting how she always gave maximum effort and never stopped competing, even in the toughest matches. She was also trusted with the captain's armband on several occasions, reflecting the respect she earned from coaches and teammates alike.
Off the pitch, Sarannah's personal growth has been equally impressive. Having joined the squad as a shy player lacking confidence, she blossomed through training sessions and the team's trip to France, developing both her personality and leadership qualities. The manager described her as a pleasure to coach and a credit to both her family and Highfields School.
Sarannah currently plays for Walsall FC Girls, and we are incredibly proud of all she has achieved.
Alice Impresses in Her First Season
Alice joined Wolverhampton District Girls Football for the team's final season together at Under-15 level and quickly established herself as a key member of the squad.
Known for her exceptional pace, Alice used her speed and defensive awareness to great effect, helping to deal with counter-attacks and opposition forwards. Alongside teammate Remi, she formed a strong and dependable central defensive partnership, with the pair complementing each other's strengths brilliantly.
The manager also praised Alice's positive attitude and cheerful personality, describing her as a joy to have around the group. Her willingness to listen, learn and always give maximum effort made her a valued member of the team both on and off the pitch.
Despite being new to this level of football, Alice more than held her own against some of the country's strongest opposition, including Liverpool. She has also recently represented both Wolverhampton and Highfields in the Premier League Kicks Cup with Wolves FC, adding another impressive achievement to her growing footballing CV.
Congratulations
We are extremely proud of both Sarannah and Alice for their achievements with Wolverhampton District Girls Football. Their commitment, hard work and positive attitudes are excellent examples of the values we encourage at Highfields.
Congratulations to both students on their success, and we look forward to hearing about their future accomplishments both on and off the football pitch.
