A Welcome from our Headteacher

I’m proud to be the Headteacher of Highfields School.  The school is a friendly, welcoming and inclusive school.  We firmly believe in our mission: that every child matters.  We understand that every child is unique and we treat them as individuals.  We strive to nurture all to develop their interests, skills and talent.

We are a highly successful school, with a long-standing reputation for faithfully serving our community.  We aim to be outstanding in all that we do for our students.

It is important that students feel safe, happy and have a voice in the school. The school environment is a place to make memories through enriching opportunities and experiences. As a large, extremely committed group of teaching and support staff, we strive and achieve quality teaching for all students. Our dedicated subject specialists who engage children to learn, helping stretch and challenge what even they think they are capable of. We are proud of the excellent inclusive care, guidance and support provided to our students. Highfields children know that they matter here and that we all want them to achieve, to realise their potential.  We are fiercely ambitious for each child.  Our well-designed broad curriculum is sequenced and structured providing them with the building blocks of deep knowledge, skills and understanding they need.  Through promoting a love of learning, the outcomes for learners are strong, with students consistently making progress well above the national average. 

Our purpose is one that goes far beyond just qualifications, it is about nurturing the whole child.  We want to help them to be confident, aspirant, reflective and curious. We do this through actively developing their awareness, life skills and character.  They leave us here well rounded, happy young people ready and able to make a positive difference to the world around them. We offer an extensive range of enrichment activities and opportunities both inside and outside the classroom throughout their time with us.  There is something for everyone.   

Our school is friendly, inclusive, and vibrant.  Our students are consistently polite and courteous to each other, staff and visitors.  This results in a calm learning environment.   We set high standards and have high expectations of all including ourselves as staff. Highfields school is a successful, happy, safe and welcoming school community with highly effective support and care that allows all students to flourish and excel.
