In Sixth Form, students are working towards life after Highfields, whether this be at university or work.
We believe that every student can excel on courses that are appropriate to them and this is reflected in our wide range of option choices. There are several pathways that students can take, ranging from A-levels and BTEC courses, or sometimes a combination of the two.
Highfields’ Sixth Form is challenging and exciting. We have a reputation for providing good teaching and learning. Our ethos is about having high expectations within a supportive and friendly environment to give our students the best possible foundations to succeed in whatever career path they wish to take.

The 16 to 19 tuition fund
For the 2020-2021 academic year, the government has made additional funding available to schools and colleges to help support certain learners in their post-16 studies. This funding is specifically intended for students who did not achieve a grade 4 in either GCSE English Language or GCSE Mathematics at the end of key stage four.
At Highfields, this funding will be used to provide relevant students with increased opportunities to work with their subject teachers in small group settings. This will often involve additional taught sessions beyond those scheduled as part of the regular timetable. As a result of this support, students will have greater access to high quality information and advice from subject experts. It will also give staff further opportunities to identify gaps in learning and provide the necessary support to bridge these gaps.
