Our Year 9 team kicked off the tournament with all the energy of headless chickens who’d had three Weetabix – frantic, fast, and full of determination! Despite the chaos, we stormed to victory against Moseley Park, quickly followed by another win over SWBA.
As the tournament went on, we found our rhythm, calmed the pace, and began to play the smart, controlled netball we’re capable of. With sharp passes and great teamwork, we secured wins against St Peter’s, St Edmund’s, and WGS ‘B’ team.
Our confidence grew with each game, and the team started to flow beautifully from defence to attack. Set plays clicked, communication was strong, and we became a real force to be reckoned with winning the next three games, including Tettenhall College with their 4 strong club players and county shooter 2-1.
Then came the final match… everything came together perfectly. We played our best netball yet, defeating the WGHS ‘A’ team 5 - 1.
Across the whole afternoon, we only conceded two goals – an incredible achievement and a testament to the team’s hard work, skill, and spirit.
Huge congratulations to all the girls – what a team! Your next challenge awaits at the County Schools Tournament on Sunday 9th November which we qualified for last year.
We’re all wishing Dionne a speedy recovery after bravely sustaining a broken finger while making a fantastic interception in the final game – four weeks to heal, and we know she’ll come back stronger than ever!
Team:
Dionne, Alanna, Nikita, Ava, Georgia, Jessica, Lottie and Arabella
So very proud of you all – well done, girls!
